Who operates Widezilla
Widezilla is developed by Matteo Dall’Ombra. For privacy questions or requests, email matteo@matteodallombra.net.
Information kept on your device
Widezilla saves your favourites, preferences, ad-blocking exceptions, and up to 100 recently visited addresses with page titles and visit counts on your device. These support local address suggestions. Open tabs and their previews are kept for the current app session. WebKit also stores website data, including cookies, caches and sign-in sessions.
Widezilla does not operate an account system, upload your browsing history to the developer, or include an advertising or analytics SDK. App data may be included in device backups according to your Apple settings.
Websites, searches and icons
When you open a website, its servers and services receive the information needed to load that page, including your IP address and normal browser request information. Websites may use cookies and collect information under their own policies. Content blocking reduces some advertising and tracking requests but cannot prevent all collection.
Submitting a search sends the query to your selected provider: Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing or Ecosia. Typing alone does not send suggestion requests to a search provider. Website icons may be requested from a saved website or an icon address provided by a page; this can contact that website when displaying favourites, even before you open it. Widezilla does not use a separate favicon proxy service.
Optional Apple Intelligence suggestions
On supported devices, optional suggestions use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models. The app supplies your typed query and a limited set of saved page titles and domains to the on-device model. This feature does not send those prompts to the developer, a remote suggestion service or Private Cloud Compute. Selecting a generated search idea sends that search to your chosen search provider. You can turn Apple Intelligence suggestions off in Settings.
Ad-blocking filter downloads
Widezilla bundles EasyList and EasyPrivacy rules and downloads updated, preconverted rule data from GitHub over HTTPS. Automatic refresh checks occur on launch when the saved rules are more than four days old; you can also request an update in Settings. The same public rule file serves all users. Your browsing addresses, history and site exceptions are not included in those downloads. GitHub receives ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, and handles it under its privacy statement. Rules are saved locally and remain available offline.
Sharing, beta diagnostics and support
The system Share sheet shares the content you choose with the app or recipient you select. Those services handle it under their own policies.
Apple provides TestFlight distribution, crash information and beta feedback under its own terms and privacy information. The developer may receive diagnostic information and feedback made available through TestFlight. Screenshots or feedback you submit may contain browsing content; review them before sending.
If you contact the developer, your email address, message and any attachments are used to respond and investigate the issue. Keep sensitive browsing information out of feedback unless it is necessary. Support correspondence is retained only as needed to handle the issue and meet applicable obligations; you may request its deletion by email.
Your choices
You can clear recent addresses in Settings, edit or remove favourites, change the search provider, turn off Apple Intelligence suggestions, and manage ad-blocking exceptions. Clearing recent addresses does not clear website cookies or sign-in sessions. Deleting the app removes its local app data from the device; backups and data held by websites, Apple or other providers are governed by their own settings and policies.
For questions about information the developer holds, or to request access, correction or deletion, use the contact address above. The developer cannot retrieve browsing history that remains only on your device. You may also contact your local data-protection authority about a privacy concern.
Changes
This policy will be updated when the app’s data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
