After so many years with Wordpress I was fed up with the slowness and constant issues I was having with my personal blog. Admittedly, it was very much my fault rather than Wordpress fault!
As you can clearly see from my posting history, I go through spells of "high volume" posting, followed up by very long spells of silence!
Because of that, it also meant having long spells of not managing/updating/maintaining the blog itself, meaning almost every time I opened it, it would feel slow and also throw a lot of errors at me, including the most frustrating "Error establishing network connection".
So, I did what I should have done a long time ago: I asked Codex what would have been the best path forward in order to have a fast, simple personal blog. The answer was to move to a static site, since I always ever done just simple posts, no comments, no need for analytics or subscriptions or any of the many wonderful features that Wordpress offers.
I’ve also used this excuse in order to rebuild the entire site UI, to be a bit more fun and to give a better home to my growing collection of Apps on the AppStore!

I’m so happy with how this turned out as it feels very me, given my start decades ago with Pokemon cards!!
But it also gives me a great appreciation for what I’ve been able to build so far, given that about a year ago today, none of those apps existed…it seems impossible to think of a pre-AI coding pasts and things are just speeding up from here!
Anyway, I was being side-tracked already…the point is, I’m hoping this new foundation will continue to be lean and fast into the future and allow me to continue expressing my creativity without being a blocker!
